SUPPORT  PARITY, INC. TODAY!

Since 1989 Parity, Inc. has been an advocate for the African American community in matters of public policy in the Dayton region.  We are continuously evaluating public policies locally as well as statewide to determine the impact on the black community

An example of parity in advocacy is the crisis in foreclosure homes in the Dayton area.  Home foreclosure has been a serious issue in the black community long before it became a national issue. Representatives from Parity gave testimony to the Ohio House of Representatives regarding a bill to prevent predatory lending.  We advocate for stronger state regulation to prevent such practices.

Parity, Inc. conducted a study of health disparities among African Americans as compared to the white population.  We discovered that African American outcomes are much worse than the population as a whole.   We are on-board to develop strategies that improve outcomes and conduct community dialogues regarding the health disparities that occur.

We value and seek financial and volunteer partners to help achieve the goals of service and advocacy that we offer in the Dayton region.

idea... HOST AN INFORMATION SESSION TO DEVELOP MENTORS!

The Parity community/school-based mentoring program is a partnership program with the Public Schools and other community organizations.  It was specifically designed to improve the school attendance and academic performance of underserved 6th-8th-grade participants and to reduce their risk of dropping out of school.

The purpose of the mentoring program is to link these underserved students with responsible, trained adults to serve as positive role models.

Our mentors, through one-to-one relationships, promote the importance of getting a good education; establish weekly telephone/mail contact with students to monitor scholastic achievement and deficiencies; share success stories and provide the words of encouragement; listen in time of need and provide other emotional and social support; establish networking opportunities for youth and offer broadening cultural, career, and educational experiences.
